In this article, I will walk you through how to start a blog/website. What you need to start a website/blog is  :

1.Domain Name

Without a domain name, you cannot start a blog. A domain name is your website name. It is the address where Internet users can access your website, for example, or, You can check the availability of domain names on :

  1. Godaddy
  2. BigRock
  3. NameCheap
  4. Hostgator

2 Web-Hosting

Web hosting is a service that allows organizations and individuals to post a website or web page onto the Internet. A web host, or web hosting service provider, is a business that provides the technologies and services needed for the website or webpage to be viewed on the Internet.  You have to buy a hosting plan from Hosting companies available in the market.

Two of the best Hosting Platforms are:

  1. BlueHost
  2. HostGator

In the example, I will use HostGator. First of all to use Hostgator services you have to choose one of his web hosting plans.

After choosing the hosting plan, you will be redirected to a page like in the picture below. Where you can choose the name of your domain, fill your credentials etc.

Next, you will get an email with the information you filled and a link. By clicking the link you will be redirected to a login page where you will do the hosting. Most web host companies use cPanel which is like a dashboard. After logging, you need to scroll down to the end of the page. Then you click the area that says  QuickInstall.

In the window that opens click  WordPress, Install WordPress. When the installation is finished you will get a notification, which will contain the information you need to log in.

If you have finished with the above steps as in the example, you will need to install a theme.

3. WordPress Themes:

A theme is a premade design. so you do not have to know the code to get the look on your site. To install a theme you need to go to the website dashboard. To do that type your website address and then add /wp-admin, which will redirect you to log in.

Once the dashboard is open in the side menu find Appearance, click Themes. You will see the themes that are currently installed and in use. To add a new theme click to the Add New button. Hence you find the theme you like click install and then activate. Click on Customize, so you can change the content of the theme as you like.
